WebRTC Leak Test
WebRTC is a browser technology for real-time audio, video, and peer-to-peer connections. In some setups it can reveal IP information you expected to hide.
What WebRTC is
WebRTC helps browsers support video calls, screen sharing, voice chat, and direct peer-to-peer features. It is useful, but it can also query network interfaces in ways that reveal local or public IP details depending on browser, operating system, and VPN configuration.
Why it matters with VPNs
A VPN should make websites see the VPN server IP instead of your ISP IP. A WebRTC leak can undermine that by exposing another address path in the browser. This does not happen in every setup, but it is worth checking if privacy is the reason you use a VPN.
How to test safely
Connect your VPN, open My IP Address, and confirm the visible IP matches the VPN. Then run a WebRTC leak test. If the result shows your real ISP IP or local network information you do not expect, review browser privacy settings and VPN leak protection options.
How to reduce WebRTC leaks
- Keep your browser updated.
- Enable leak protection in your VPN app if available.
- Use a privacy-focused browser profile for sensitive sessions.
- Retest after installing browser extensions or changing VPN servers.
